In 1846 Eli and Martha Carver sold land on Carversville Road in the northwest corner of Solebury Township to the trustees of the Cottageville School, at which time the school was built. It operated from 1847 to 1910 when the students were transferred to a building that had been used as a dental office. The school was sold to the Solebury Township School District and the district in turn sold it for a private residence.
