The George Nakashima house, studio, and workshop are significant as the home and workplace of George Nakashima, internationally known artist, craftsman furniture maker, humanitarian, and Society Honored Citizen. The property, located on Aquetong Road between Old Windy Bush and Covered Bridge roads was also recognized for the unique architecture of its international style buildings. The site was given national recognition as a Historic Place in 2008 and was named a National Historic Landmark in 2014.
